Before we plan a unit, we need to decide what are the key ideas related to a topic. Gallagher begins by examining the national standards related to the topic of photosynthesis. You can find the appropriate documents linked to URITK's "Standards" page. Use CMapTools* to create a concept map for photosynthesis. Based on this concept map, write down the key ideas that you think should be included when teaching photosynthesis at the middle and high school levels. Be prepared to present your work to the class and record their ideas about what students should be able to do at the end of each unit.
To use CMapTools, you will need to install it on your computer. You can find out more at our CMapTools Info Page.
